What it means
In everyday English, unremarkable can sound dull or even negative. In a radiology report it is good news: the structure looks the way it should. Radiologists list organs as unremarkable to show they checked them on purpose rather than skipped them.
When it matters
It needs no action by itself. Other lines in the same report may still describe findings elsewhere, so read the impression as a whole. A normal-looking organ also only covers what that type of scan can show, and some problems are not visible on every scan.
Questions to ask your doctor
- Is everything in the impression unremarkable, or only some organs?
- If the scan is normal, what could explain my symptoms?
- Would a different kind of scan show more?
